Hello,
my creative little minds...
Is it just me, or is this summer HOT HOT HOT!!? Are you ready
for a challenge and a few AWESOME prizes?? Do you think you have
what it takes to show your skills? Then check out the contest,
prizes, rules and deadline and send us your stuff!!! We
just extended our deadline to be oct 1th, so now you have an extra
month to submit something to us!!!
The
Contest:
-Your task is to animate a ball with secondary motion.
follow these 2 links for some examples:
http://1on1animation.com/videos/flipbook%20ball%20bunny.mov
http://www.cameronmiyasaki.com/Animation/Animation_right/bouncingballs.mov
The
Rules:
- No more than 10 seconds in length
- Using no more than 2 balls
- Secondary shapes can be any kind of primitive
- Showing a character arc is best (make us feel something)
- Gags are okay, but a character arc or some kind of story is
better
- Can be a playblast, this is not a lighting test or modeling
test (only animation will be judged here)
- All submision
should be received by no later than OCT
1, 2006 (we extended our deadline!!!!)
* Upload your animation and send us your link to: shadoukat@thescratchpost.com
- your submisions
will be judge not only by the ScratchPost team, but also by Angie,
Jamie, and the teachers at 1on1animation.
Advice:
Do not spent hours setting up dynamics for secondary...this is
an animation test and you really should animate the secondary
by hand to show you understand how that stuff moves. If you can
do this test correctly...you have shown you understand volumes
about animation. Especially if you do it and we feel something
from watching the test!
The
Prizes:
1st
Place:
A
signed copy of the newly released book Thinking Animation, by
Angie Jones & Jamie Oliff.
Learn how to think before you animate. Thinking Animation
is a one-of-a-kind book that emphasizes how artists can use traditional
animation techniques and principles with the computer generated
animation technology of today. Written by seasoned animators with
experience in both 2D and CG, Thinking Animation is an exquisite
guide aimed at experienced animators; however, the skills taught
within are still accessible and valuable to the novice animator.
This full-color book includes numerous interviews with experienced
contributing authors from a wide range of backgrounds, including
stop-motion, visual effects, traditional animation, and CG. Thinking
Animation is non-software specific. It contains a history of the
field of animation as well as insight into how CG studios operate.
It embraces the future of animating with the computer while still
retaining the core values that traditional animators use as formulas
and principles.
