at San Diego State University and Children's Literature and Puppetry
at The University of New Hampshire. Kellie-Bea has been in the
animation and SPFX industry for 7 years. She has produced award
winning independent shorts in both traditional animation and computer
animation. She's also worked in Live Action, Interactive, Web,
Commercial, and TV animation. Some of the studios she has worked
for are: Pacific Title Digital, The Baer Animation Company, Jim
Henson Interactive, Warner Brothers TV Animation, Phil Roman Entertainment,
and WB Kids!
Kellie-Bea
is very active in the animation industry as an award winning independent
animation film producer, teacher, writer, journalist, and historian. Her
independent works have been featured at SIGGRAPH, the 3D Design
Conference, American Film Institute (AFI), Women In Animation
(WIA), and a multitude of film festivals.
She
has taught at the American Film Institute (AFI), the Associates
In Arts (AIA), Santa Monica Academy of Entertainment and Technology,
and lectured at many industry conferences and many institutions
around the world. To keep in touch with all the new advancements
and trends in the industry, Kellie-Bea researches and freelance
writes journalistic articles for the following magazines: Animation
Magazine, World Animation Network, 3D Design Magazine, and now
The Scratch Post.
Kellie-Bea
is the owner and director of her studio 'The Better Mouse Trap',
where she is currently working on a number of new independent
projects. She is also the owner and director of her web animation
school 'The Webisode Academy', to teach episodic animation skills
for the web.
Kellie-Bea's
thoughts on Production: Teamwork
is key! Management is not easy work, but the respect and productivity
level is greater when it comes with a artistic background and
an ever growing technical background. The ability to communicate
effectively with all three of these divisions is the ultimately
goal of every production. Though Kellie has had her share of jobs
that were dreadful to be on, she's always relied on the bonds
built within her teams.
Without
this perspective, every minute of a given project can potentially
convert a bad definition to the 4 letter word 'WORK'. Being an
independent computer animation film maker, She has a much better
view on production. Some think she's nuts to work all day, then
come home and work on her independent CGI productions. Well, they
really don't know what their missing! The pride and accomplishment
she feels when collaborating on these shows carries over to her
day-to-day work.
She
hears the same feedback from all her teammates. It's a stress
release! With this, she will continue her effective way to challenge
herself with the hurtles of 'WORK' productions. Who knows, someday
you and Kellie may be teammates on a project. She looks forward
to it!
