Having
a background in radio and television, Lani Minella began
concentrating on the interactive industry in 1992 when doing hundreds
of voices and scriptwriting for GTE which was developing for the
Discovery channel, Philips, Sony and an entire department for
children’s titles. She started cold calling clients whose business
cards she got at various trade shows, from CES to E3 and the Computer
Game Developer’s Conference. She worked as a Game Designer and
Creative Director at a start up company, and Paramount highly
favored the Deep Space Nine script she wrote while pitching her
own game, Fall Of Time. Ironically her company pitched the game
to GTE which later stole the idea and butchered the game’s original
intent by coming out with Time Lapse.
With
over 300 titles done to date and hundreds of voices yet to be
discovered, she has expanded her business, Pro-Motions Production
Company aka Audiogodz, to be a full service provider. She casts
other talent. directs, writes, acts, provides editing, sound-effects,
foleying, music, and she still designs games. Her ultimate goal
is the cartoon industry, but she has no qualms playing anything
from a Klingon to doing sound-alikes for games. (Sigourney Weaver-Alien
Resurrection,Linda Fiorentino-Men In Black, Casper,
all the dinosaurs in Land Before Time, Evy and Anack Su
Namun in the Mummy, Betty Boop in Betty Boop Hollywood
and Olive Oyl in Popeye EVO-slot machines, the males she
cast for Die Hard Trilogy, etc)
She
has worked on top-sellers like Duke Nukem (3D, Plutonium,
Time To Kill, Forever), Starcraft, Diablo 1,2 and add-on
pack, Unreal, Everquest and the add on Scars
of Velius, Clive Barker’s Undying. The list also includes
several flight sims, military combat games, RPG games, tons of
shooters, educational games, instructional, business and training
projects, sports games, toys, telephone systems, industrials,
videos, Film, Radio & TV (She stars in Bloopy’s Buddies a national
kids’ show with Jonathan Winters.)
Her
good reputation is known by companies worldwide and there is always
a good time to be had by all. References are available from everyone
from Disney, Fox, Paramount, Warner Brothers, Sony, EA, GT Interactive
and sub-developers, Eidos and it’s developers, Hasbro & developers,
Interplay, Acclaim and its developers, Havas/Vivendi, and the
list goes on.
Thoughts
on Production: Lani’s
philosophy is to
get the job done right the first time, for the best price with
the most original creativity possible. (If you like jokes, she
is the Queen of that realm too.) “I want each project to be the
best one yet,” she says. “It helps to have worn so many hats and
filled so many shoes. If your mind has a wondrous wardrobe of
ideas, there’s no limit to the roles you can play.” “I work fast,
save post-editing time & trouble and bring an endless variety
of possible voices to any project. That’s what separates the exceptional
voice actors from the announcers and in-house staff that still
tend to require lengthy repairs or re-dos. When the talent is
good, everyone enjoys the experience and it shows in the final
product,” Lani adds. No job is too big or too small for Audiogodz,
from doing demos to entire game production, this company’s resources
and good reputation are growing rapidly.
