Jay Francis has been working in the entertainment industry for over sixteen years. After graduating with a television and film production degree from Syracuse University, Jay began his career working for D.I.C. Entertainment, supervising such animated series as Inspector Gadget, Heathcliff, Madeline, Dennis the Menace and The Real Ghostbusters.

In 1991, Jay and three partners formed Little Gangster Entertainment, a boutique animation studio with offices in both Los Angeles and Paris, France. The company produced traditional animation, CD-ROMS and video games for such prestigious clients as MTV, The Cartoon Network, Warner Brothers Animation, Universal Cartoon Studios, Fox Interactive and Electronic Arts.

In January 1997, Jay decided to join Film Roman as the Director of Talent Recruiting as well as Internship Coordinator. In this capacity, he is responsible for locating the artistic talent behind such high profile animated programs as The Simpsons, King of the Hill, The Oblongs, Mission Hill and The X-Men, as well as artists for Film Roman's in-house development and digital divisions. Jay has recently added the role of Vice-President and General Manager for LEVEL13.NET, Film Roman's internet subsidiary. Under the LEVEL13.NET banner, Jay acquires short animated films that the company can develop into television series, direct-to-video features, video games and internet programming. He also co-produced the DIRECTV - LEVEL13.NET ANIMATED FILM FESTIVAL for DirecTV.

Jay gives presentations to various educational institutions including elementary, middle and high school level programs. He has lectured at UCLA, The University of Texas, Vanderbilt University and Howard University as well as all of the major art and animation schools in North America. He is a member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and is currently a member of the board of advisors at the Art Institute of Phoenix and the Art Institute of Los Angeles. He has also served on panels at the Nashville Film Festival, The World Animation Celebration, EGO Conference in Chennai, India and the 3D December Conference sponsored by Alias/Wavefront.

Jay's thoughts on production:
Check you ego at the door, don't be out worked and put yourself in the other person's shoes...
